Duman is a Turkish rock band. The band combines elements of traditional Turkish folk music with modern rock. Duman consists of Kaan Tangoze (vocals and rhythm guitar), Batuhan Mutlugil (lead guitar and backing vocals), and Ari Barokas (bass guitar and backing vocals).
History
Kaan began writing songs for the Turkish Rock band he would go on to
form while living in Seattle in the early 1990s, and performing with a
band called Mad Madame. Upon returning to Turkey, he reunited with
former classmate Ari and his bandmate in the Blue Blues Band, Batuhan.
Together they formed Duman. After an initial search for a drummer, they
decided to work with session musicians. They predominantly worked with
drummer Alen Konakoğlu prior to their last album.
Duman has recorded three studio albums, and a live album. They released
their first album, “Eski Köprünün Altında” (under the old bridge) in
1999 and second, “Belki Alışman Lazım” (maybe you need to get used to
it) in 2002. Both albums achieved great success in Turkey and
spearheaded a new generation of Turkish rock bands that reached the
mainstream. In 2004, they released their live album, “Konser”. Their
fourth album, “Seni Kendime Sakladım” (I kept you to myself) was
released in July 2005. Duman was the first Turkish rock band to release
a live concert in DVD format (2004).
